Neighbors in Actions response to the Coronavirus Covid-19
Neighbors in Action is committed to the health and safety of our clients, our volunteers, and our staff. We are taking every precautionary measure to prevent exposure to Covid-19. We recognize that many people we serve are at the highest risk of severe symptoms and potentially death if affected.
In response to Governor Walz Executive Stay at Home order we chose to halt services temporarily from March 23 - May 3, 2020. During this time we were able to learn more about the disease and how it is spread.
In response to the demonstrated needs of our clients we have begun offering in-home services again as of May 4, 2029. Our Care Partners have all completed the National COVID-Ready Caregiver Certification. This training includes safety protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19 to our clients and our staff. While we can't ensure that our clients do not have the disease because people can be asymptomatic while infected, our Care Partners are doing everything possible to ensure safety including:
Take their temperature prior to every shift and notify us if you have any symptoms
Wear a face mask when in clients homes and when in public places.
Wash their hands frequently according to the guidelines in the training. Wear gloves when handling bodily fluids.
Maintain proper social distancing (six-feet) as much as possible.
Follow the Governors Stay at Home recommendations when not at work.
Offer clients a mask to wear while in their homes. They should save the mask to use at each of your visits.
Encourage clients to postpone the Care Partners visit if they have any symptoms and to follow the Stay at Home Guidelines.
Volunteer services for outdoor chores has also resumed and we are able to provide lawn mowing as we have volunteers available. We have a very limited number of volunteer drivers willing to provide transportation but we will do our best to meet transportation requests in the La Crescent area.
Please contact our office if you have any questions or if you are in need of services.
Thanks you and stay well!
